The LinkedIn Bootcamp is an online workshop that gives women returning to the workforce an opportunity to update their LinkedIn profiles. Employers in every industry uses LinkedIn to find candidates, and it is important to make sure your LinkedIn profile shows your skills and experience clearly. Simple Steps will host LinkedIn Bootcamp for those who want to create, or revise their LinkedIn profile for 4 weeks in April 2021. Boot Camp participants will learn how to create a strong LinkedIn profile and how to use LinkedIn as a primary tool for job searching and networking. They will also receive 1:1 feedback from Jee Kang, our Talent Development Manager.

The 90-minute workshop will meet weekly on Fridays at 7 PM (PST) for 4 weeks (Apr 02 - Apr 23, 2021).

Schedules

Week 1. Understanding LinkedIn and Creating LinkedIn profile (4/2)

  • What is LinkedIn and why it matters?

  • How to set up a LinkedIn profile from scratch

Week 2. How to Use LinkedIn features to Network (4/9)

  • Walk you through LinkedIn features

  • How to connect with people (even the ones you don’t know) on Linkedin

Week 3. Focusing on About Me & Experiences Section (4/16)

  • Difference between LinkedIn and Resume

  • How to create a profile as a Job Seeker - About Me & Experiences

  • LinkedIn dos and don'ts

Instructors

Dr. Bokyung Kim is a program director of Simple Steps. Her current works are developing self/career development programs, supporting job-seekers, and nurturing the environment where females can pursue their careers sustainably. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Psychology from Korea University and a Ph.D. degree in Psychology from Stanford University.

Jee Kang has worked in the recruiting team for 4 years for the Houston Super Bowl, WalkMe and Quizlet hiring for all levels of software engineering, product, user operations and business roles. During her time at Quizlet, she reviewed over 300 resumes per day and interviewed candidates on a daily basis. She also has experience supporting the recruitment of C-suite, board, director, VP and manager roles as a research and knowledge analyst at one of the Big 5 Retained Executive Search firms, Russell Reynolds. Even while working, she consistently helped college students, new-grads and people affected by lay offs get jobs. Although she is currently not working, she has dedicated her free time to volunteer with Simple Steps to help immigrant women like herself achieve their career goals. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sports Management from Rice University.
